Good day Pioneers!
You know the drill. Below are 6 bites to inspire your creative direction.

You ever feel so certain your video is going to go viral but then it… flops? Well, sometimes you really are sitting on a goldmine and it was just your execution that’s preventing its takeoff. Ryan Magin experimented with a video he was sure had massive potential - re-editing a TikTok SEVEN times until it finally reached 50 million views. Isn’t that great to see? Sometimes it’s just a little tweak here, a minor edit there. Believe in your product.
Man, do I hate that word “oversaturated”. I hyper-obsessed about this when I first started creating and it set me back tremendously. If you want to be a fitness creator, ask yourself: what can you leverage? And, who exactly is your audience? If I were to start fitness content today, I would leverage the perspective of someone who is skinny fat, in their early 20s, and living by themselves for the first time in a big city. When you look at this sub-audience, barely any creators are targeting them. No subject is oversaturated, you just need to find your leverage-point.
Of all the resources on YouTube for learning the nitty-gritty of becoming a creator, Think Media rises to the top. They upload content from qualified creators that teaches critical parts of becoming a YouTuber and an internet personality. This video, highlighting Alex Hormozi’s strategy, is a whirlwind of knowledge packed into 10 minutes. I can’t recommend it more this week if you’re interested in scaling your output as a creator.
Some of us here think we’re good editors. A few of you might think you’re pretty great. But trust me, we all pale in comparison to Jonkari P. At only 21k TikTok followers, Jonkari P consistently demonstrates world-class (world class!) editing, compositing, and CG, all tied together with an exceptional sense of humor. His profile is one of those few channels in which every single video is a masterpiece. Seriously.
I recently roasted myself in this August-reflection LinkedIn post. The main thing I want to work on for this month is finding a sustainable long form YouTube strategy. I’m proud of the videos I posted last month however, it’s hard to recreate consistently, especially since I have to post four short-form videos a week now. Long-form is the only way to ensure longevity as a content creator. It’s crucial to figure this out before it’s too late.
Tejas. My fellow brown kid. It’s hard to roast you because everything you do is so dialed, and you’ve worked so hard to get that process down rock solid. I know I poke fun every so often, but I think one of your biggest strengths is your ability to pivot and go back on your word every four to six weeks. In that vein, I think you should try your hand at making your short-form pieces even shorter - you’ve leveled-up your short storytelling game x10 in the last two months, so level it up again. Fit what you’d normally say in 50 seconds, into 35. See what happens!
Tejas W5 Update: Mediocre week on my end. I’m still in this creative block, a bit lost on my overall brand identity. This happens though like once a quarter I’ve realized and it’s all about pushing through and reiterating. Also trust me… after that salmon smoothie, I am NOT failing again.
Danny W5 Update: Decent week. One short, a cinematic retelling of the morning after, and my longest YouTube video ever. With sensible planning and time management, I was able to edit the 7 minute video in only two days - maybe YouTube isn’t quite an unachievable feat? Now to relax, but I cannot slip up next week - that naked mile is looming.
Sean W5 Update: Tejas had to drink salmon this past week. He FaceTimed me while he did it, and further solidified me not wanting to do that. This past week, I uploaded a Bo Burnhamian-esque short, and a personal story recounting my trip to Salt Lake City. This upcoming week, I’m on vacation in Hawaii, snorkeling with the fish - let’s hope I don’t have to drink one because of it.
