How to START telling a long story
Plus - how to tell if your purpose is crystal clear 🔮 ~5 min read!
Hey ya’ll!
Sorry for the slight misstep last log - hopefully the pictures load!
Speaking of loaded, we’ve got a loaded log for ya today, as per usual! Strap in, this is a good one!
I’ve gone through many different phases of authenticity, at times emphasizing it and at others, neglecting it. If you value authenticity but wonder if you embody it, ask yourself these questions:
Do you create out of genuine interest, or for financial upside?
Do you create for views or the love of creation?
Is your purpose crystal clear?
Authenticity doesn’t necessarily mean sharing every nook and cranny of your life outside of the internet. There’s plenty of creators that are entertainers, playing a specific role that contrasts sharply to their real-life personas.
I've realized authenticity comes in multiple forms, but it's often identified by one core feeling: genuine enjoyment.
It's easy to be engulfed by metrics and the business of being a creator, but if making videos doesn't ignite genuine joy, maybe you're wearing the wrong mask.

Previous week’s goal: Shoot one measly long-form video ✅
Next week’s goal: Edit and upload that one measly long-form video
Baby steps, baby. Ended up recording a video. It’s simple, but it’s something I genuinely have wanted to do for a long time. The edit shouldn’t be too hard, and I should have something uploaded by next week!
You have a story you want to tell. Maybe it’s quite a big one. Or one that means a lot to you. But there’s so many moving pieces, and the idea bogs you down. So where in the hell do you start?
When you approach a project, identify one theme that sums up the entire story. Is it about solidarity? About grief? About breaking a comfort zone? Make it specific, but broad enough to cover it all. Everything comes back to this.
Then identify 4 or 5 smaller sub-themes that represent each section of your story. These will be your buckets. Could the start of your story be attributed to insecurity? Or ignorance? What happened in the middle? Does it make you feel anxious?
For my next video, the theme is comfort zone. Some buckets I’ve defined include self-esteem, family, and acceptance.
Now, my job is to arrange everything into these buckets. Whether it’s footage, quotes, b-roll or something else.
Those buckets will tie together. There will be a link between each. Your next job is finding the chain.
Stay tuned next week for a dive into finding those transitions.

Previous week’s goal: have the video FINISHED ✅
Next week’s goal: find title and thumbnail for next video
I’ve aged several years, but the Jerry Seinfeld documentary is behind me. Hopefully by the time you’re reading this it’s up on my channel. See you there! A weekend to celebrate, but on to the next.
If there is one thing I could tell the person just starting to get into this career, what would it be? This is a question I’ve debated in my head for a while but recently, I’ve come up with answer:
The entrepreneur who is doing many things, is an undisciplined one.
I come to this realization a lot, because I find myself following it for a bit but slowly adding more to my plate until I need that slap across the face.
Whether it’s a consulting call, a new opportunity, a media thing… These can all be distractions if you’re on a path to building something.
I’ve found myself a bit stagnant in my content creation journey, not much follower growth nor content growth and when I break that down, it’s because I’m not posting due to having many other things take up my life.
Even if it’s a 15 minute call in your day, that adds up to an hour especially when you consider preparation and switching costs.
Saying no is a lesson I’m continuously learning and for any creatorpreneur building, it’s the most important lesson I could reiterate.
Unfinished Chronicles:
Get a long form video out! ✅
Finish up all my other “things” and enter a Season of No.
Just like my segment said, I’m giving myself one week to end all outside partnerships to really focus on saying no to build my own path.
Really enjoying this sectioned off content with the 3 topics of discussion
